Chancellor Award Winners Announced
SUNY
Chancellor Robert L. King has recognized the University’s most outstanding
students for 2004 with the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence,
and four Geneseo students have earned the honor.
In all, 245 students from 61 SUNY campuses, representing five foreign
countries and nine states, with an average grade point average of 3.74,
were honored. Joanna Zieno of Fairport, N.Y., Marinda Wyant
of Penn Yan, N.Y., Paul Weismann of Brandenberg, Germany, and James
Rogers of Kenmore, N.Y., received the award.
In addition to grade point average, candidates for the Chancellor’s
Award must have demonstrated significant contributions to the greater
campus community. This year’s awards were presented at a ceremony
at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany, and more than 1,500
friends and family of the student award recipients attended the event.
Each student received a framed certificate and a medallion.

Rogers
served as chair of the Student Association and was involved with the Geneseo
Residence Life Program. He carried a 3.10 GPA while majoring in English
with minors in theatre and psychology.

Wyant
was active in the Geneseo Residence Life Program, was the keynote speaker
at the Geneseo Honors Convocation and was a member of the international
Golden Key Honor Society. She carried a 3.75 GPA while majoring in biology.

Zieno
was a member of the Geneseo cross country team and the international Golden
Key Honor Society. She carried a 3.84 GPA while majoring in business administration
with a minor in psychology.

Paul

Weismann was a member of the Geneseo Ice Knights hockey team and the American Chemical Society Division of Analytical Chemistry, a national academic honor. He carried a 3.59 GPA while majoring in chemistry and was inducted in Geneseo’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
